Position Summary

Grand Strand Miracle Leagues (GSML) is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and team-oriented Program Management Intern to help deliver inclusive sports and recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. This hands-on internship provides opportunities to gain experience in program planning, event operations, volunteer coordination, and nonprofit leadership while making a meaningful impact in the community.

The Program Management Intern plays an active role in creating welcoming, fun, and engaging experiences for participants and their families. Interns work alongside staff, coaches, and volunteers to support day-to-day program operations and gain valuable experience in sports management, recreation, and nonprofit leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support & Delivery

• Assist with the coordination and delivery of sports and recreation programs
• Help develop activity outlines and session plans that create engaging and meaningful experiences for participants
• Assist with setting up fields, equipment, and materials for scheduled activities
• Support participants, families, coaches, and volunteers during programs and events
• Help ensure activities run smoothly, safely, and according to established guidelines

Event Operations & Community Engagement

• Assist with special events, community outreach opportunities, and fundraising activities
• Represent GSML at community events and help share information about programs and volunteer opportunities
• Support day-of event logistics and participant experiences

Volunteer & Coach Support

• Work alongside coaches and Buddies to help create positive and inclusive experiences for participants
• Assist with volunteer coordination and communication during programs and events

Administrative & Technology Experience

• Gain hands-on experience with LeagueApps registration and program management systems
• Assist with participant registrations, rosters, and program communications
• Learn the behind-the-scenes operations that support successful nonprofit programming

Professional Development

• Participate in leadership development and professional training opportunities
• Gain exposure to nonprofit management, adaptive sports, recreation, and community engagement
• Build communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills while working closely with GSML staff and community partners

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, coaches, volunteers, and participants
• Interest in sports management, recreation, nonprofit leadership, education, or related fields preferred
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
