Program Director
Position Summary:
Grand Strand Miracle Leagues (GSML) is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and organized Program Director to lead the planning and execution of our inclusive sports and recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. This role serves as the on-site ambassador for GSML, building strong relationships with players and families, supporting volunteers and coaches, and ensuring every event is welcoming, fun, and safe for all.
The ideal candidate is someone who truly believes in the power of play and inclusion and is passionate about celebrating the diverse abilities of our athletes. They must thrive in a collaborative environment, be a strong communicator, and enjoy creating joyful, community-centered experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management & Delivery
- Plan, implement, and oversee all league sports programs and activities, including baseball, basketball, dance, flag football, soccer, golf, cheer, tennis, and new programs as developed.
- Maintain the quality and consistency of existing programs while bringing fresh ideas to enhance and improve the overall player and family experience.
- Serve as the main point of contact for families regarding program information and registration.
- Manage registration system, create team rosters, and support coaches with communication, training, and background checks.
- Attend and supervise all game days and sports sessions to ensure a smooth, inclusive experience for players, families, and volunteers.
- Oversee the Program Manager and Program Management interns, including scheduling and training.
School Day Programs
- Lead the planning, communication, and day-of coordination for School Day Jamborees and field trip visits, working to create the best possible experience for students and schools.
- Build strong relationships with school districts, school leadership, and teachers serving students with disabilities in Horry and Georgetown counties to increase participation, promote accessibility, and ensure an inclusive, engaging experience for students.
Volunteer Coordination
- Support the Program Manager in overseeing the volunteer sign-up platform and communications through our online volunteer system.
- Help recruit, schedule, and provide information for individual and group volunteers.
Outreach & Community Engagement
- Represent GSML at community events, fairs, and partner engagements to raise awareness and share program information.
Fundraisers & Special Events
- Support the Executive Director in planning and executing fundraising events and other special initiatives as needed.
- Conduct outreach to local businesses and community partners to secure raffle prizes and in-kind donations for events.
Field Maintenance
- Coordinate and meet with vendors at the field for maintenance needs, including pest control, repairs, and facility upkeep.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and operations of GSML.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in sports and recreation preferred
Strong commitment to inclusion and celebrating the unique strengths and abilities of individuals with disabilities - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to collaborate with diverse groups, including players, families, volunteers, and donors
- Experience in nonprofits is a plus
- Working evenings and weekends as required
Work Environment & Schedule:
This is a full-time, salaried position. Evenings and weekends are required for sports programs, events, and community engagement opportunities.
This role includes a combination of office, field, and event-based work. Responsibilities may include standing for extended periods, frequently lifting (up to 25 pounds), and frequently moving equipment as needed for program setup and support. Exposure to outside weather elements is frequent.
Status: Full-time, salaried (exempt) | 40 hours/week, including nights and weekends
Salary Range: $38,000 – $40,000, based on experience
