The Grand Strand Miracle Leagues is a non-profit organization that provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports and recreational activities in a community-supported, safe, adapted, and encouraging environment. We currently offer a baseball league, a soccer training program, a golf training program, a cheer program, and an all-access playground.
Our top priority is the safety, protection, and well-being of our players. We recruit the most qualified adults to serve as coaches to ensure our players enjoy a fun and educational experience. All of our coaches are background-screened and trained, and we encourage parents to stay at the complex while their children are on the field.
Yes! We have set up our sports schedules at different times so that players can register to participate in all sports.
We welcome anyone who would like to play, but you must register to participate in any of our programs. Registration is free. Players who sign up for baseball will be placed on a team and receive a uniform when they come to their first game. Come check us out!
Baseball games and soccer training are held at the James C. Benton Miracle League Field in Myrtle Beach. For soccer training, some players, depending on their mobility, move to the grassy area that borders our facility. Schedules for each activity are posted on this website. Playtime at All-Star Park can be scheduled by contacting the Program Director.
No. The Grand Strand Miracle Leagues serve residents in Horry and Georgetown as well as the surrounding counties.
Each player is assigned a volunteer to assist them at each game or training session. This volunteer Buddy is asked to protect the player, assist the player, and offer friendship on the field. Siblings, parents, and family friends often serve as Buddies, but we always have a supply of friendly volunteers who are eager to get in the game! Click here to learn more.
No. Baseball players will be given a team jersey and baseball cap to wear to games. Players are welcome to bring their own gloves and bats, but the league provides equipment for everyone to use. The Miracle League provides a soccer ball for each player during soccer training. All registered soccer players receive a t-shirt the first night to wear to training. For both sports, tennis shoes are suggested. Please note that no cleats are allowed on our rubberized field.
Players and coaches from Coastal Carolina University and other area soccer teams provide instruction on basic soccer skills and work one-on-one with our players. For an hour, players move through various skill stations, and the evening usually ends with a scrimmage or a friendly kickball game. Training sessions are held on the Miracle League field, and some players, depending on their mobility, move onto the grassy area that borders our facility.
Each game lasts about an hour. Every player on each team comes up to bat, travels to each base, and crosses home plate. Teams switch between batting and being in the outfield, and each team typically bats two times during the game. Coaches and Buddies assist players with hitting and fielding if they need it. Both teams go through their line-up twice before the game ends in a tie! The players and Buddies line up to shake hands and then head off to the patio for a meal!
A Miracle League field is an ADA-approved, all-access baseball field featuring flat, synthetic turf that ensures individuals with disabilities can safely play ball. The bases are painted on the turf, and dugouts are on level ground, providing a barrier-free surface. The James C. Benton Miracle League Field in Myrtle Beach was built in 2001, making it the second of its kind in the nation! The field was resurfaced in December 2023.
Everyone 4 years and older is welcome. All programs are free of charge to our players.
Yes! Our players range in age from 4 to 58 and vary in levels of ability and experience. During all Miracle League activities, players are paired with a Buddy to assist them in play or to offer encouragement. No experience is necessary for any of our sports programs.
