Safety Around Water

This summer, Grand Strand Miracle Leagues is partnering with the YMCA of Coastal Carolina to offer Safety Around Water, a specialized swim lesson series designed to teach essential water safety skills to individuals with disabilities.

Through this partnership, participants will gain confidence in and around water while learning lifesaving skills such as how to float, reach safety, and respond in an emergency. Lessons are led by certified instructors trained to adapt the program to meet the needs of each swimmer, ensuring a supportive and inclusive experience.
Each class will be limited to 3 participants who will work one-on-one with an instructor to ensure personalized instruction in a calm, supportive environment. Two sessions will be offered this summer.

It’s important that participants attend all four classes in their session. If you know you’ll be away or may have a conflict with any of the dates, we kindly ask that you DO NOT SIGN UP.

Important Information:
  • Swimmers will need swimwear and a towel each week. Goggles and a swim cap are optional.
  • Swim diapers are required for participants who wear diapers or may have difficulty getting to the restroom while in the pool.
  • For each participant who is 15 or older, a photo ID is required if they have one. A photo ID is required for the parent/guardian attending with the participant.
